Experienced and dedicated personal injury lawyers pursue full compensation

Residents of the Research Triangle are well acquainted with Interstates 40 and 440 and the many frustrations of living in an area that has outgrown its traffic infrastructure. Daily delays due to congestion and roadwork irritate commuters, who often respond with aggressive maneuvers that increase the likelihood of an injury accident.  At Marcari, Russotto, Spencer & Balaban P.C., we’ve represented many victims of aggressive or distracted driving on these major routes. Our Raleigh, Charlotte and Durham locations allow us to respond promptly for your request for legal assistance anywhere along I-40 and I-440.

Project Fortify can’t end soon enough!

The North Carolina Department of Transportation has been working on a ten-year plan to fortify two of the Triangle’s busiest roads, reduce congestion and enhance mobility throughout the area. Project Fortify crews have been rebuilding an 11.5-mile stretch of I-40 and I-440 in Raleigh, and the project looks to be complete by late 2016.

Project Fortify was most welcome by the drivers of more than 100,000 vehicles that travel on this crumbling section of interstate every day. The thirty-year-old pavement and materials beneath the surface were cracking not only from use, but also from a chemical reaction triggered by a paving substance used several decades prior.

Three lanes in each direction have remained open for most of the I-40 rebuild, and NCDOT has reduced daily traffic by 30,000 vehicles by investing $12 million in public transportation. Still, commuters will breathe a sigh of relief when Project Fortify is finally complete.

Most common Interstate 40/440 accidents

Roadwork areas are notoriously dangerous for vehicle traffic and construction crews, especially at night, leading to the following types of crashes:

  • Auto accidents — Commuters frustrated over delays are prone to aggressive tactics and engaging in distractions. Both of these problems increase the likelihood of an accident.
  • Motorcycle accidents — Motorcycles are more vulnerable to adverse road conditions than any other vehicles.
  • Truck accidents — Large commercial trucks have limited maneuverability and need greater distances to slow down. Aggressive truck driving can easily lead to disaster.

If you are injured in an interstate accident, you must prove that someone else is at fault. Our attorneys have the experience and resources to investigate your accident, gather the evidence necessary and prosecute your case vigorously.
