Preserving Evidence for Your Personal Injury Case

After a car accident, it’s important to find and preserve evidence of any damage, including your injuries, to support your case. If you were hurt in a car accident, take the following steps to preserve the evidence as soon as possible:

Obtain physical evidence

Physical evidence can help determine who actually caused the accident. You may not be able to preserve the actual object that caused the damage, but photographs of dents on a vehicle that indicate where it was hit or of a damaged step that caused a fall can also be persuasive. Victims should also document the severity of their injuries.

Return to the scene

It may be necessary to go back to the site to locate evidence, and it is important to do so as soon as possible. Take pictures of any conditions that you believe caused or contributed to the accident. Take photos from different angles at the time of day the accident occurred. If it was a motor vehicle crash, it is also a good idea to take pictures on the same day of the week to indicate traffic flow. Or have a firm that has an investigator.

After experiencing a serious injury because of someone else’s carelessness or negligence, explore your legal options for seeking compensation. Speak with a dedicated personal injury lawyer in Virginia to learn more.

This law firm helped me get the VA to classify my husband as 100% disabled from an injury he suffered while in the Navy which later gave rise to Parkinson's. They're very good.
