Beware: Recent Product Recalls in the United States!
Clarks Recalls Shoes Sold on Amazon, QVC Due to Toxic Chemicals:
Eight different styles of women’s shoes are now being recalled globally by Clarks, after tests found toxins in the products. Roughly 113,000 pairs were sold in the United States, said the United States Consumer Product Safety Commission. Made in China, these shoes were sold through Clarks outlet stores, other retailers and online from February to October 2022.
Other retailers that sold the shoes include, but may not be limited to, the following:
- Amazon
- DSW
- JC Penney
- Kohl’s
- Macy’s
- Shoe Carnival
- QVC
- Zappos
A potentially cancer-causing substance, benzidine, or dimethoxybenzidine, was found inside certain pairs of Clarks. Benzidine is a synthetic chemical that has not been sold in the U.S. in over 50 years, according to the National Cancer Institute.
Consumers can determine if their shoes need to be returned by checking the product’s article number, the first eight digits of the 12-digit number under the size on the label inside the shoe.
People who purchased a pair can visit this website for a guide on getting a refund.
United States customers can also call Clarks, toll-free, at (800) 480-5992.
Six Different Brands of Shampoo Recalled Due to Cancer Risk:
Unilever has voluntarily recalled several dry shampoos due to potentially elevated levels of benzene, a human carcinogen, according to the Food and Drug Administration. An internal investigation found the propellant in aerosol cans to be the source of contamination, now, Unilever has said that they’re working with their propellant suppliers to rectify the issue.
The recalled products include the following:
- Dove
- Nexxus
- Suave
- TIGI (Rockaholic and Bed Head)
- Tresemmé
The products in question were manufactured prior to October 2021 and were distributed all throughout the United States. Unilever has instructed consumers to stop using any product mentioned above, and they’ve set up a website (click here) where consumers can request a refund for any affected products they purchased.
Benzene is a chemical that can cause cancer in humans, and long-term exposure can also be quite the contributor in the development of such cancers as leukemia.
Benzene has also been recently linked to recalls for other products like sunscreen, deodorants, and children’s hand sanitizer.

Costco Recalls Foster Farms Chicken, Cites Potential Plastic Contamination:
Costco has recalled over 150,000 pounds of Foster Farms frozen chicken patties based upon concerns that they contain plastic pieces, according to the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS).
The FSIS went on to say that Foster Farms produced the recalled chicken in August and that shipments were sent to distribution centers across Arizona, Washington, California, Colorado and Utah.
The recall does also state that these frozen chicken patties may have been sent elsewhere as well, although that has yet to be confirmed by Costco or Foster Farms.
Any consumers who may have purchased the affected products should check to see if it’s the 80-ounce plastic bag with 20 pieces of “Breaded Chicken Breast Patties with Rib Meat.”
The sell-by date is August 11th, 2023 with the establishment number P-33901 and the lot code 3*2223**.
The FSIS advises people with the chicken to return it to wherever they purchased it from.
